Meet the experts

Christian Fletcher B.Eng (Technical Director)

Christian has been involved with the design of the company’s depot protection and safety systems for over ten years. In co-operation with Loughborough University, he was responsible for the development of the original SMART DPPS™ system dedicated to the protection of personnel. His day-to-day activities involve supporting sales and technical staff and ensuring our products meet the standards required for safety and reliability.

Prior to joining Zonegreen Limited, Christian worked in the design of machine vision and automation systems within the high-speed press industry. Before that, he was involved with a small electronics prototyping and manufacturing company, designing testing of medical electronics equipment and tackling issues related to electro-magnetic compatibility (EMC).


Wilder Pong M.Sc, B.Eng(Hons), CEng, MIET (Control Systems Engineer)

Wilder joined the company in 2003 and has since been responsible for project managing many of our SMART DPPS installations. His background in electrical/electronic engineering encompasses design and implementation of control panel equipment. He is a 'hands on' engineer with considerable technical knowledge plus installation and commissioning experience, managing projects from inception to completion.

Like the rest of the zonegreen team, Wilder also provides his technical and practical support in the development of new products and refinement of existing designs. He is a Member of the Institution of Engineering and Technology and holds a Technis Certificate in Reliability & Functional Safety.


Richard Eason BA (Control Systems Engineer)

Richard is an engineer experienced in project management, but he also has the benefit of a Higher National Diploma (HND) in mechanical engineering. He is an accomplished ‘hands on’ engineer with expert knowledge of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic and pneumatic systems.

Since joining the company, Richard has been responsible for a number of important rail projects, including First Capital Connect’s Bedford depot and the Dubai Driverless Metro. He also had some involvement in the Eurostar Temple Mills DPPS project.


Steve Bates BSc (Signal Engineer)

Steve joined the company in april 2011 after 11 years’ experience in main line signalling. He is an IRSE accredited technician holding licences as both signalling installer and signalling team leader. Steven has held an SMTH licence since 2004.

He has brought his in-depth knowledge of main line signalling techniques and practices into the depot environment. Steve’s a hands on engineer who has previously worked on major main line signalling schemes such as Euston remodelling project, west coast main line upgrades, EROS 5 and also supervising smaller RT24 contracts such as signal structure renewals and the Leicester line speed enhancement project.

He has experience working with tram networks as signal installation team learder on both Nottingham and Porto tram signalling systems. He also acted as assistant project manager for points design and installation at 3 of Siemens train care facilities.

Since joining the company, Steve has been responsible for the acquisition and development of the zonegreen convertor along with the integration of main line signalling equipment, such as TPWS, into the depot protection system.


Andrew Wall (Embedded Software Engineer)

Andrew Wall has primary responsibility for new application development and software design. He has over 20 years’ experience in embedded, low power and networked systems. Andrew's extensive experience in software design, design patterns and agile software development locate his role at the core of Zonegreen's cutting-edge applications service and deployment.
